Like my fellow NASCAR fans across the nation,
I am currently in a state of forced hybernation.
There’s no races being run, it really is no fun.
But I guess NASCAR has to have a vacation.

I awaken from my slumber to do the things I must.
My family likes it when I wash their clothes and dust.
It’s hard to be cheery, when things are so dreary
And my hot NASCAR blood feels like rust.

I’m counting down the days on my dry-erase board.
Can’t wait to see the battles of the Chevys, Dodges, and Fords.
I ache for the rush when those engines start up
And they start rubbin’ and racin’ door-to-door.

Hope is rising, my friends, as January arrives.
Just four weeks to go while feeling half-alive.
Time will go slow, but I’m not alone.
With the help of my NASCAR friends I’ll survive.

My wish is a simple one, but straight from the heart.
“Happy Hump Month” to you, wherever you are.
We’ll get through the days, and wake from our daze
To cheer on our heroes in their cars.
