What My Son Is NOT, and How NASCAR Fans Helped Make That Happen
Posted by CAW under Special-Family-articleAs the parent of a special child, I deal with what my son ‘is’. I don’t have time for, or even care about, what he ‘is not’.
It has been a long hard road, but I know that I have been blessed with a very special responsibility. I wouldn’t change or trade Joshua in for anything. Not even tickets to a Bristol race (Yes. I’m that serious).

Jul 25, 04:01 PMThank you Leslie for telling your story here. It is not a natural thing to bring forth personal information about the children we love, but it is the only way we will reach the rest of the population. I admire your strength, and I know that you are a very special parent. When I’m down I remind myself that we’ve been chosen for this job. ‘Somebody’ thinks we can handle it. And it’s people like those in the world of NASCAR that can give us these bright days that help us through the darker ones.

Can I relate to this story,My son Is severley Autistic a 17 year old with a 2 year old mind,he is mean at times, can be very destuctive, can hurt himself by biting and picking.I too have to do everything while he is in school, because when he is home he requires my full attention,24/7 care.My 10 year old Dakota is Nascar Freak and I take both boys to meet drivers and get autographs,I have taken Brad and Dakota to Qaulifying and practice sessions at MIS in Brooklynn Mi,The Nascar Drivers we have met, have been the greatest and they do ask about Brad and his disability. So Nascar is a big part of our family.God Bless all our Children they are a gift.
