JAW’s ‘HEARTRACERS / HEARTBREAKERS’
– 2016 New Hampshire 301 edition

Date: 7-17-16

Racetrack: New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Pole Sitter: Jimmie Johnson

HEARTRACERS:

  • Matt Kenseth: Matt won the race and proved the Gibbs dominance at this track lately. He was happy to win over teammate Kyle Busch to get all the credit.
  • Joey Logano: Joey got another top-five finish and is well seated in the Chase. He will be ready for elimination rounds to have better luck at advancing.
  • Kevin Harvick: Kevin finished fourth in the race. That was very important for his points lead. With his challengers having problems Kevin made ground in the points.
  • Jamie McMurray: Jamie almost got a top-five while going for a Chase spot. He needed a win and came pretty close this week. He might be able to break through like Tony Stewart did with a win.
  • Kyle Busch: Kyle led 133 laps today inside the top-ten. This was a good run for Kyle but he missed out on a weekend sweep.
  • The Love Birds (Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.): Danica and Ricky got good finishes inside the top-fifteen. The both ran well and these were two of their best finishes.

HEARTBREAKERS:

  • Josh Wise: Josh finished last after an early crash. He was in a slow team to begin with. It was a bad weekend all together.
  • Michael McDowell: Michael had electrical failure in his No. 95 car. He was second to last. He has been up and down in his performances near the back of the field.
  • Brian Scott: Brian finished 38th and was many laps down. He tweeted that he was still optimistic in his Rookie season. He is almost a non-factor in the Rookie chase.
  • Alex Bowman: Alex lost a tire driving for injured Dale Jr. He wanted to finish much better than this to get a good ride.
  • Chase Elliott: Chase lost a tire and ended up far back in the field. He lost ground to Ryan Blaney in the Rookie chase. He has one of the best cars in the field and still has a decent lead in that battle.
  • Kurt Busch: Kurt got involved in a wreck and finished near the back of the lead lap. He had been on a roll catching points leader Kevin Harvick. He lost ground in the points.
