JAW’s ‘HEARTRACERS / HEARTBREAKERS’
– 2015 Crown Royal Presents the Jeff Kyle 400 edition

Date: 7-26-15

Racetrack: Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Pole Sitter: Carl Edwards

HEARTRACERS:

  • Kyle Busch: Kyle became the first driver to win three races in a row since 2007. He won NASCAR’s second biggest race at the Brickyard. He has won four of the last five races and will almost certainly be in the Chase.
  • Kevin Harvick: Kevin got another one/two finish this week. He looked like he might win the race until Kyle Busch got a push on a late restart.
  • Ryan Blaney: Ryan has had bad luck most of the year in the No. 21 car. He is driving part-time and he had a lot of retirements this year. He finished in the top-fifteen with a solid run.
  • Ryan Newman: Ryan started last in the field after problems during the weekend. He drove his car up into the top-fifteen in the race.
  • Clint Bowyer: Clint had contact with Jeff Gordon on lap 51 of the race but he missed getting any damage. He went on to have a good car in the race. He got one of his better finishes of the year in the top-ten.
  • Joey Logano: Joey looked like he might also win the race with a good car. He tried to get the lead on late restarts. He finished in the top-five to help his Chase contention.

HEARTBREAKERS:

  • Alex Bowman: Alex has had too many Heartbreaks this year in a poorly funded team. He had another mechanical problem in the race with his engine. He finished last in the field.
  • Timmy Hill: Timmy was this week’s slowest lapped car. He got lapped 50 times in the race and finished 41st.
  • Trevor Bayne: Trevor got in a late crash to ruin his race. He spun out on lap 160 after contact from Aric Almirola. He finished in 40th place.
  • Brian Scott: Brian crashed on lap 121 and finished in 36th place. He repaired the car but had another bad run in the Cup Series.
  • Aric Almirola: Aric spun on lap 108 and got damage to his car. He finished many laps down in 38th place. He also wrecked Trevor Bayne who was a contending car late in the race.
  • Tony Stewart: Tony had one of his best qualifying results of the year in the top-ten. His car ran well in the race to possibly turn things around. But he had problems in the race. He finished further back than he wanted even though he was on the lead lap. He finished in 28th place.
